When 3,000+ athletes, coaches and officials arrived in Kelowna for the 2026 BC Summer Games, someone had to get them where they needed to be. That was the job of the Games' Transportation Team — a group of volunteers who spent the week moving people across the region so the competition could run smoothly.
The day before the Games began, the Velocity Truck Centres team hosted a BBQ to thank them. At our facility on Dease Road, our crew served lunch to approximately 125 volunteers, coaches and organizers — a hot meal and a genuine thank-you before a busy week ahead. "The volunteers donate a significant amount of their time to support the Games," said Cody Fortin. "This was our chance to show our appreciation."
The Kelowna 2026 BC Summer Games featured 19 sports and athletes from eight regional zones across British Columbia. It was the fourth time Kelowna has hosted, following 1980, 1994 and 2008. For many of the young competitors, it was their first taste of a provincial multi-sport event — and, like the athletes themselves, it was all about what's next.
