At Velocity Truck Centres Canada, we get pretty fired up about the trades, and there's nothing we love more than seeing young people catch that same spark. So when we heard about the Queen Margaret's School Classics for Kids Program, jumping in was an easy call.
A classic car, rebuilt by students
The Classics for Kids Program at Queen Margaret's School in Duncan, BC gives senior students the chance to do something most people never get to try: restore a classic car from the ground up. Working alongside Matt Sager from TV's Lost Car Rescue, these students took a tired 1940 Ford Coupe and brought it roaring back to life.
Along the way, they learned real skills. Not textbook theory, but the actual work of being a mechanic. How an engine goes together. How to solve a problem when the manual doesn't have the answer. How it feels to turn the key on something you rebuilt with your own two hands. That's the kind of experience that can set the direction of a young person's entire career.
